I’m not a haiku kind of person – I think, before going to Cornbury Festival (on the weekend of the 10th to the 12th of July) I’d probably only written one or two, but I didn’t really understand it as a medium of poetry before. For me, writing a poem has always been to express feeling; lather on the flowery words and keep on until I can’t any longer, but a haiku is typically a poem of simplicity and I think I finally get it. I had a lot of inspiration while I was there and wrote a couple, and since then I’ve written a few more. It’s fun.
I love the short and sweet nature of it, the rhythm of the five, seven, five.
